It’s no mystery why Eminem enlisted Rihanna to sing on his single “Love the Way You Lie.’’ Beyond her soulful voice, she also has a history as a victim of the sort of domestic violence Eminem raps about. But it’s also no mystery why women’s groups are disturbed by her participation — especially in a provocative music video that doesn’t quite glorify domestic violence, but doesn’t judge it, either.

Like much of Eminem’s work, “Love the Way You Lie’’ is part confessional: a look at his own long, violent relationship with his ex-wife, Kim. In the video, actors Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan portray two people who alternate between tenderness and terrible abuse. Rihanna acts as witness, and sings from the perspective of a woman who can’t find her way out of a toxic situation, and may not want to, either.

It’s an honest sentiment, but it undercuts Rihanna’s ability to make good of her own sad story — to be a role model for women in violent relationships, an advocate for zero tolerance. When news broke that Rihanna’s boyfriend had beaten her, one of the most alarming aspects of the story was the fan reaction: In online forums, it was clear that many girls saw violence as an expression of passion. “Love the Way You Lie’’ makes that same link — and, in the end of the video, Fox’s character stays with her abuser.

It’s a vivid dramatic portrait, and Rihanna has quite rightly called it “powerful.’’ What would be even more powerful, though, is a less ambiguous statement about behavior that can never be condoned, especially not in the name of love.

In Sydney the three time Grammy winner will give Aussies, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Newcastle in February and March a taste of her Last Girl On Earth stadium production, according to promoters.
Born Robyn Rihanna Fenty, Rihanna last visited Australia in 2008. She's album R Rated on her European tour, which has made more than 2.5 million copies in sales worldwide.
Tour promoter Michael Coppel Presents said in a statement that the show would bring in a full theatrical production, band, acrobats, dancers and music from all four of her studio albums.
On August 20 tickets will be available, while pre sales will begin August 9.
Since 2006, Rihanna has already released four studio albums and earned nine Grammy nominations, winning three of them. She was hailed as the Favourite Female Artist at the American Music Awards for two years in a row.
She has announced last week that she would be making her acting debut in an action adaptation of children's board game Battleship.

Rihanna jumps Battleship movie

Rihanna is to star in a approaching science fiction film about a naval fleet that protects Earth from alien invaders. The 22 year old R&B star it was confirmed this week will appear in Battleship, directed by Peter Berg. Alexander Skarsgård and Taylor Kitsch are true blood actor and also onboard. It has not yet been announced which part Rihanna will play.

According to Variety, Battleship is based on the board game of the same name and is expected to be released on 25 May 2012.

Rihanna has reportedly been caught smoking marijuana. According to Media Takeout, the singer was in her hotel room allegedly using the substance with her friends in Barbados. After alarm bells went off in the high end hotel, security was forced to investigate room for Rihanna. Since the incident, it has been reported that the singer has been banned from the hotel after the room was left unrecognisable. Rihanna has credited her boyfriend Matt Kemp with keeping her "sane" while she tours the world, insisting the baseball star brings her "peace" and "happiness".
The pair confirmed their relationship in April after reports of a romance emerged in January when the singer and the Los Angeles Dodgers player were spotted on holiday together in Mexico.
The young lovers have been kept apart in current weeks while the Umbrella hitmaker tours with her Last Girl On Earth shows, but Rihanna is grateful for the support of the sports star while she's so busy working.

Chris Brown forced to scrap UK tour after Home Office bans singer over Rihanna attack

US R&B singer Chris Brown has been forced to scrap his British tour after he was refused a visa for attacking ex girlfriend Rihanna.
The Home Office said Brown was banned because he had been found guilty of a serious criminal offence.
The tour was due to have started in Glasgow today, followed by gigs in Birmingham, Manchester and London.
Tour promoter SJM said on its website that the concerts had been cancelled "due to unforeseen circumstances".
Fans were advised to hold on to their tickets with the possibility of the dates being re-arranged.
Brown, 21, attacked Rihanna in his car after a pre-Grammy Awards party in Los Angeles. Leaked police photos revealed the brutality of the attack with bruises clearly visible around the singer's mouth and on her cheek and forehead.

Brown, whose hits include Run It! and Kiss Kiss was given five years' probation last August, ordered to perform 180 days of community service and attend domestic abuse counselling.
The Home Office said: "We reserve the right to refuse entry to the UK to anyone guilty of a serious criminal offence. Public safety is one of our primary concerns.
"Each application to enter the UK is considered on its individual merits."
Brown has the right to appeal. Sony Music also confirmed the tour has been postponed "due to issues surrounding his work visa".
It added: "Chris looks forward to performing for his fans abroad in the near future and thanks them for their continued support."
Brown had posted on his Twitter feed that he had been denied entry to the UK but the entries were later removed.

The saucy singer also invited MOTLEY CRUE bassist NIKKI SIXX to appear, but he politely declined.

WE hope loads of OK.co.uk readers got tickets to Radio 1's Big Weekend, because quite frankly - the line-up of stars such as JLS and Rihanna made for a rocking weekend.
Taking to the stage in Bangor, Wales for Radio 1's Big Weekend, were the likes of Rihanna, JLS, Cheryl Cole, Alicia Keys, Pixie Lott, Ke$ha, Florence and The Machine - to name but a few.
We were blown away by Rihanna's sexed-up show - which saw her bumpin' and grindin' around the stage in a reggae-inspired black leather jumpsuit, as well as Cheryl's high-octane dance moves that dazzled the royals.
Marina And The Diamonds had us transfixed with her funky tunes and by her Bambi-print dress, (we WANT one), while Florence And The Machine was just spellbinding - what a tunester.
Essex girl Pixie Lott provided just the right music for us to groove too, while Alicia Keys looked right at home in Wales (so much so she changed her New York, New York lyrics - although we don't think Bangor, Bangor had the same ring).

Key 103 gets broadcast rights to Rihanna concert

Key 103 in Manchester has managed to secure the exclusive live broadcast rights to Rihanna's UK concert.
Rihanna The Bauer Media-owned station will devote 3 hours to the singer, including live coverage from her performance at Glasgow’s SECC.
It will build up to the event on May 26th with the launch of a dedicated Rihanna microsite, plus on-air competitions to win tickets. They are also putting together a dedicated social media campaign to target her fans directly.
“Key 103 is thrilled to have secured this sought-after opportunity and to participate in this live cross-network broadcast. Rihanna is a huge global star and this promises to be a night of great entertainment for our listeners, helping to drive increased reach and listening hours,” said Gary Stein, station director at Key 103.
In November Bauer's Big City Network of Key 103, Rock FM and Radio City combined forces to win the broadcast rights to Lily Allen's Manchester Apollo concert.

Rihanna has admitted that she is 'in love' with her new boyfriend Matt Kemp.
The 'Rude Boy' singer was first linked to Kemp at the beginning of the year, but had kept tight-lipped over their relationship until now.
Speaking to The Mirror at the Paris date of her 'Last Girl On Earth' tour, the 22-year-old commented: "Oui, oui, oui - it's love!"
She continued: "I'm really happy right now. It's an amazing city. I love it. It would have been so cool if he was here. I was hoping he would be able to come to London [next month] but he's working.
"And I'm touring and shooting videos for my next single so it's going to be seven weeks before I see him again. It'll probably be when I get back to America that we can hook up properly.

Rihanna reveals Katy Perry and Russell Brand will wed in India later this year

Rihanna has revealed Russell Brand and Katy Perry's wedding plans.

During a radio interview the couple's pop star friend, who is organising the hen party, said that they will marry in India at the end of this year.

The Umbrella singer also confirmed the pressure of making Katy's last night as a single lady one to remember.

She told US radio DJ Ryan Seacrest during an interview on his Kiis FM show: "I have to come up with something cool because she's getting married in India so I'm like 'Okay, now what do I do to match that?'"

"That's at the end of the year so we've got some time to plan that."

Rihanna, Jason Derulo and David Archuleta will perform on the American Idol results show this week.

Season nine's Top 9 contestants will showcase tracks from John Lennon and Paul McCartney on tonight's episode of the Fox competition, before another finalist is eliminated from the show on Wednesday.

The results show will feature Rihanna performing new single 'Te Amo', while Derulo will treat the audience to his hit track 'In My Head'.

Rihanna 'steps up security after fan mail'

Rihanna's team have apparently stepped up her security after a barrage of "steamy" fan mail was sent to the star from a mystery admirer.

According to MTV, the 'Rude Boy' singer's boyfriend Matt Kemp is "shocked" by the letters.

A source claimed: "Matt has asked Rihanna's team to be extra cautious since she was sent two very steamy letters.

"Her friends are also concerned about the situation. They spent ages talking about it when they dined at the Spanish Kitchen in West Hollywood last week."

The insider added: "They are really worried things with this guy are going to get out of hand."

Rihanna Still Reaching Out to Chris Brown ?

Rihanna is still in contact with ex-boyfriend Chis Brown, it has been claimed.
The Rude Boy singer — who was left battered and bruised following a 2009 altercation with Brown — is trying to stay friendly with the Run It hitmaker so she can “truly heal”.

“Ri feels like she won’t truly heal,” a source told American tabloid the National Enquirer.
“Rihanna still talks to Chris. There’s some kind of need there, still.”

The source adds that Rihanna’s current squeeze, Los Angeles Dodgers star Matt Kemp, isn’t happy with that the star is talking to her violent former flame.
“Matt has a temper,” said the insider. ““He knows people who are friends with Chris, and they’ve told him that if he ever sees Rihanna on the street, he’d better run the other way.”
