Rihanna's new album named ‘Rated R’
The record, titled 'Rated R', shares its name with Queens Of The Stone Age's second album, released in 2000.
Rihanna's 'Rated R' is the follow-up to 2007's 'Good Girl Gone Bad', and the first single will be 'Russian Roulette', which launches worldwide today (October 20) on radio and at rihannanow.com, the singer's website.
'Russian Roulette' was written and produced by Rihanna's long-term collaborater Ne-Yo. Other songs on the album have been written and produced by the likes of Chase & Status, Stargate, Justin Timberlake, The-Dream and Tricky Stewart.
Rihanna joined by Jay-Z in London
The R&B princess put in a brief but epic performance at Brixton Academy in front of a crowd of competition winners and invited guests. The show was streamed live online by Nokia.
Debuting tracks from 'Rated R', which is released next week, the singer was also joined by rapper .
Taking the stage at shortly after 8pm, the Barbadian singer emerged onto a stage decked out with vintage television sets and silver mannequins. Wearing black fishnets, a black and silver leotard and a lace mask around her face, she jammed with the live band through album intro 'Madhouse', before playing future single 'Wait Your Turn', the song from which the viral album teaser refrain 'The Wait Is Ova' is taken.
The show then began in earnest with a dramatic rendition of new single 'Russian Roulette', throughout which Rihanna sat on a revolving white chair, before miming shooting herself in the head at the finale.
After a selection of hits from breakthrough record 'Good Girl Gone Bad', Rihanna was then joined by Jeezy for the new album track 'So Hard'.
But the main event was saved for the climax. As the opening strains of her recent Jay-Z collaboration opened up, it became apparent that the man himself was in the building, joining Rihanna from the back of the stage to rap his parts on the smash.
Jay-Z remained onstage for his opening sequence on the star’s signature hit 'Umbrella', which brought the show to its dramatic climax.
Rihanna played:
'Madhouse'
'Wait Your Turn'
'Russian Roulette'
'Don’t Stop The Music'
'Take A Bow' / 'Disturbia'
'So Hard'
'Live Your Life'
'Run This Town'
'Umbrella'

Rihanna in combative mood for new album
To promote the albu at a press conference it was strictly off limits to even mention the controversy dogging her since February, when R&B boyfriend Chris Brown brutally attacked her in Los Angeles on the eve of the Grammy Awards.
The shocking police photo of the singer's bruised face -- Rihanna is also a model and fashion icon -- was leaked to the press, and earlier this month the star said returning to Brown after he had bitten and scratched her during the attack had been a mistake which arose because she was "so far in love."
Well, she's not in love anymore. R Rated was recorded when she was in a "dark" mood, and did a lot of "venting" in the studio. Some tracks allude to the doomed relationship, especially the single Wait Your Turn.
Rihanna played the pop diva at the Paris get together on Thursday, breezing in late and refusing point blank to answer personal questions.
But she was all smiles when it came to talking about fashion, a favourite subject of the Glamour magazine woman of 2009 who has modelled for Gucci and Cover Girl.
Her tip for Parisian ladies this winter is "sexy lingerie", because even when you're all "bundled up you can still be cute when you take it off".
Asked if she thought she scared men away she laughed and suggested, in her rusty, deep voice that maybe "they just don't know how to approach me, so prefer not to".
Rihanna is a breath of fresh air in the size zero fashion world, freely admitting that although her "genetics say I should be low carbs", the junk food is still on the menu. "I'm just not a very disciplined eater".
Her fourth album in four years, which is out on November 23, includes three features: with ex-Guns 'N Roses guitarist Slash, the rapper Young Jeezy and will.i.am.
Explaining how the track Photographs came about, she says she heard the tune at will.i.am's studio and even though it was meant for the Black Eyed Peas she said "this song belongs to me!" No surprise she got her way.
Though the 21 year old has gone blonde, and is into creams and whites at the moment, R Rated is the opposite: angry, heavy, combative.
It is more hard rock than chilled out melody, and Rihanna's vocals have a strong, metallic quality on most tracks.
The Barbados born singer says she wanted to bring some of her roots to the music this time, and actually worked to "put my little twang to it".
As for the future, it's a tour next spring, and she plans to take up the guitar (once she's mastered the drums), but "my nails are too long" she admits, and "it will have to wait before I'm ready to give these up".
Rihanna is not just talking about manicures.

Brown's assault, aftermath 'humiliating', Rihanna
The pop star 21 year old told Glamour magazine in an interview posted online Tuesday that the police photo of her bruised face that was leaked to reporters added insult to injury.
After the assault, she awoke to find helicopters circling her house and reporters swarming her street. "I felt like I went to sleep as Rihanna and woke up as Britney Spears," she said.
Rihanna said she felt disappointed and taken advantage of, particularly when she heard that the two officers under investigation for leaking her photo were women.
"I felt like people were making it into a fun topic on the Internet, and it's my life," she said.
Rihanna said she didn't realize how much her decisions affected people she didn't know, like her many fans. She feels stronger, wiser and more aware now, she added.
"Domestic violence is a big secret," Rihanna said. "The positive thing that has come out of my situation is that people can learn from that. I want to give as much insight as I can to young women, because I feel like I represent a voice that actually isn't heard. Now I can help speak for those women."
Brown, 20, pleaded guilty to felony assault in June. He was sentenced to five years' probation, six months of community labor and a year of domestic violence counseling for the attack, in which he was accused of hitting, choking and biting Rihanna in a rented sports car.
TMZ published the photo of Rihanna's bruised face less than two weeks after the beating, and the LAPD immediately launched an internal investigation of the leak.

Chris Brown still has strong feelings for Rihanna has
Brown, 20, had been told to stay at least 100 yards away from the Barbadian singer for the next five years, after he pleaded guilty to assaulting her during a row in February this year.
And while speaking on New York radio station Hot 97 on October 21 he revealed to DJ Angie Martinez that he is still in love with the Umbrella singer.
“We’ve been friends since I was like 15, we got serious when I was, like, 17,” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.
“Feelings are feelings and they don’t go away overnight, particularly if you sit down and be like, ‘Look, I’m (going to) actually be in this relationship with you, past whatever the case, past our busy schedules, past us being two of the biggest artists.’ I actually care about her,” he added. (ANI)

Rihanna speaks after photo leaked
However, she declined to comment on a leaked photograph which appears to show her with facial injuries.
"At the request of the authorities, Rihanna is not commenting about the incident involving Chris Brown," the star said via her spokesperson.
"She wants to assure her fans that she remains strong."
'Saddened'
Brown was questioned by police on 8 February over a complaint of assault.
Police said the 19-year-old got into an argument with an unidentified woman in a parked car in the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles, which escalated after they left the vehicle.
Both Brown and Rihanna pulled out of that night's Grammy awards, where they had been due to perform.
He has since said he was "sorry and saddened" by the incident and was seeking counselling.
Prosecutors have asked police to provide more information before deciding what charges, if any, to pursue against him

Rihanna Videography
Jon Bream of the Star Tribune commented the custom of Madonna and Janet Jackson, Rihanna has become the video vixen of the '00s ... Rihanna has ideally the pout, the rangy strut and trend-setting hairdos that stay women and men alike examination her out on YouTube." George Epaminondas of InStyle considers Rihanna's music videos to be "cinematic" due to her "blend of lush island rhythms and swinging pop and ... mischievous sensuality." Rihanna remarked that Marilyn Monroe and vintage clothing served for visual inspiration for the music video "Hate That I Love You" and "Rehab"; in difference, the "dark, creepy" scenes of "Disturbia" have drawn comparison to Michael Jackson's Thriller. The music video also ranked number five on the "Top Five Most Paranoid Music Videos" published by MTV Buzzworthy
